Do you have too much money, too much time, or do you just like to make other people rant? It’s probably a bit of all these things that motivated one reddit user to embark on a highly original mod. He has transformed an ASUS RTX 5080 ROG Astral into a real skateboard, by attaching one of the wheels directly to a board that appears to be the card’s radiator. In a short video posted on Reddit, the modder takes to the stage and demonstrates that his improvised skateboard works. Indeed, the owner can clearly be seen walking his dog with both feet on the “board”. A convincing demonstration of the rigidity of the Astral chassis…
She’s a 5080 Astral but she looks like a 5090, and she handles like a TUF

Before you get too excited, if you look closely at the images, you can make out the ground through the blades of the RTX Astral chassis. This could confirm the hypothesis that the Astral’s PCB-less radiator/shell combo was simply used. It’s not impossible to get this kind of component from those who use RTXs for server farms, by fitting a custom water cooling system for example. But in any case, this redditer ‘s objective is fulfilled : a video that creates a buzz. Finally, the redditer doesn’t hesitate to warn people not to reproduce his experience unless they want to throw their money out of the window. But even then, it’s better to keep your ROG Astral where it belongs, in a high-performance PC, and try your hand at tricks on the sidewalks with real skateboards.
Fortunately, there are several conventional mods based on an Astral RTX, such as here and here.
