Following some early benchmarks leaking on the new competitor to the iPhone, the Xiaomi 17 specs have been released, and with that, some big claims are coming from the Chinese phone manufacturer. In a post from UniverseIce on X, who seems to be at a Xiaomi press conference, we get to see slides of the upcoming phone – specifically the battery capacity (7,000 mAh) and duration (22.1 hours).
The secons slide showcases direct comparisons between the Xiaomi 17 and the iPhone 17 – with the Chinese Manufacturer coming out on top. They are first-party, so maybe take them with a grain of salt, but they claim 22.1 hours for the Xiaomi 17, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max achieves 13.63 hours, the 17 Pro gets 11.13 hours, and the base iPhone 17 only 10.55 hours.
That would give the Xiaomi 17 a 62% higher battery life than the top iPhone, which has a reported battery capacity of around 5,000mAh.

A true iPhone competitor?
With a prolonged battery life and the below benchmarks showing off the power of the Snapdragon inside, the Xiaomi does provide a surprisingly good option on paper, up against the iPhone 17. Especially with some of the more intriguing features it is adding to its design, like the secondary screen on the Pro model.

Now that the phones have been released (25th September), it’s only a matter of time before we get to see third-party testing and see how well the phone actually performs. Particularly, more validating tests against Apple’s own tech and seeing if the China-made competitor is good enough in comparison.
