It’s The End Of Win10 As We Know It

Published:

And Several Things Don’t Feel Fine!

The countdown has been going for quite some time but we are now down to the final days of Win10 and older non-Cloudy Office versions.  If you are running local versions of Office 2016 or 2019 you are facing the same October 17th deadline.  While the programs will still start up, they won’t be updated again nor can you get help for any issues you run into from Microsoft.   They may even start showing nag screens similar to the ones you see if you are currently running Win10.

There is something else to consider as well, for ancient Surface devices will also be facing a the end of their lives.  One that you might not have considered is that the original Surface Hub v1 cannot be upgraded to Win11 so they will quickly become unusable.  The Surface Hub 2S and newer can be upgraded, but you will need to do so manually.

The Microsoft Teams Rooms app based on classic Teams will also no longer be accessible, so check those meeting rooms so your October 18th isn’t worse than it needs to be.

With more people forced to test Win11 for Microsoft, maybe some of the long standing bugs will finally be addressed?
