A PC in a cast-iron radiator

Here’s another crazy but interesting project from Billet Labs. To put it simply, the idea is to use a cast-iron domestic radiator from the Victorian era, weighing around 50 kg , to take care of the cooling of a PC in an aesthetic way.

Can a 100-year-old cast-iron radiator cool a large PC?

All the computer’s key components are located under the base of the radiator. Looking at it from the rear, you can identify the graphics card ports, the motherboard I/O panel and the power supply air outlet. An elaborate device connects the heat-generating components to this large cast-iron heatsink, via copper conduits and heat sinks. The designers of this project assure us that, once the assembly is complete, the lower part of the radiator will be completely lined with copper, giving the whole a refined and sophisticated Steampunk look. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll have seen that the use of copper isn’t exactly something the English at Billet Labs are afraid of.

Obviously, with the use of a heatsink as a passive heat sink, this project should operate without noise. For the moment, we don’t have any details on the components that will be used, but even if the precise characteristics have yet to be revealed, the proportions and heat dissipation capacity of this old radiator weighing in at 50 kg should provide this project with a cooling system as original as it is efficient for high-end CPUs and GPUs, without any danger of overheating.

This project is under intensive development at the moment, and the finished product looks set to be one of the most massive and aesthetically spectacular custom computers of next year.
